PREPARATION
**You will be emailed sides and assigned work partners, prior to beginning the first week**
First Week: Introduction
In the first week, the class will work on new material pulled from prospective plays Keen Company is considering for future productions. Scenes will be distributed before class and actors will be assigned work and partners; the expectation is that they will have rehearsed before the first class. Carl distributes his Master Reading List, a list of his 1000 or so favorite plays to serve as inspiration for scene work in class.
Second Week:
We will continue working on the scenes from the first class. We may also rotate class members between scenes, in order to look at them in different ways. Additionally, now we will add in some time to look at audition material that people either have upcoming, or past material they want to work on and learn from.
Third Week:
Some scenes from the first round will return. By the third week, we will also begin looking at material the actors have chosen drawn from or inspired by Carl's Master Play list. Additionally we will now be adding in monolgues from plays on the list. Again, there will be time set aside for audition prep at the end of class.
Fourth Week:
Now we will be reviewing scenes from all four weeks, ideally looking at the same material in different ways. We will continue the exploration of scenes and monolgues by working on them textually, physically, vocally, and spatially. Again, there will be time set aside for audition prep.
